I started writing during the summer of 2004. Well, that's when I began my first novel. Before that, I'd written tons of poetry (which only my family is tortured with) and a few short stories that are now sitting in a drawer gathering dust.
Some Robin facts:
- I first met my husband at CU -- but we'd attended school together since 7th grade -- and we didn't start dating until I was 29.
- I love dark chocolate. Yummm!
- I started and ran a one-room school (K-12) for eight years. I mostly taught the teens and pre-teens (I hired two other teachers, including my mom).
- I took piano lessons for thirteen years, but I hate to practice. I was a piano major in college -- but rather than give a senior recital, I chose to write a thesis (the only music major, at the time, who preferred writing to performing).
- I have enough Psychology credits to minor in Psych. But CU didn't offer minors. I prefer philosophy (though I never took a class), actually, and my favorite contemporary philosopher is Eckart Tolle.
- I love romance -- every book I write has a love story in it. Even before I was officially a teenager, I still looked for love in all the books I read.
- I've been a singer most of my life -- not a great one, but tolerable (most of the time). I also love opera, though I could never sing it, with Faust by Charles Gounod as my all-time favorite.
- I love being in nature, surrounded by nature, listening to the songs of nature...which leads us to:
I live in Colorado, filled with beauty like the golden, fall aspens. Our family (husband and two children) hike often during the summer, reveling in the scent of the wild flowers, listening to the whisper of the wind in the pines, and drinking in the blue, blue sky.
You'll notice that my books are about girls -- girls in love, girls in danger, girls in triumph. It's amazing the strength we can find within...that's what I aim to share.
